Sue:
Kathy Ross, the popular craft book author, has
written a new book craft book called Crafts
for Christian Values.
Her latest book is filled with wonderful crafts and ideas to help
children learn about Christian values and what they mean. Kathy has designed a terrific
collection of crafts specifically designed to encourage children to practice Christian values.
While the kids are having fun they are also learning the kinds of behavior that God
expects from them.
Thanks Kathy for another delightful and fun book!

Interview with Kathy Ross
Sue:
Your book Crafts for Christian Values is a wonderful learning tool and delightful
book full of terrific ideas. How would you recommend parents and others use your book?
Kathy:
When parents choose a craft to make with their child it provides the perfect
opportunity to talk about the value that craft is designed to forward. Values are a pretty
abstract concept for children. Providing them with a tangible project that reflects the
value being taught is a helpful and fun way for children to begin to understand loving
behavior.
Sue:
Children learn in all sorts of ways. In all of your books you
emphasize that "hands on" learning is the most effective way for children to
learn. Can you tell us briefly why you think this is so important?
 Kathy:
I think, because I personally need to be physically involved, to fully learn and
understand a concept, I have felt very committed to creating simple ways for children to
be involved in understanding what they are being taught. I never felt like I was working
at school when I was involved in learning with more then my ears. I'm afraid I quickly
tuned out an adult who talked "at" me for too long. I wanted to act it out,
recreate it, draw it, look at it, sing about it...anything but sit there and hear it for
hours and hours. I believe that learning should be a delightful experience rather then a
boring one. To move around, to touch, to recreate the things that are being taught is a
very natural way for children to learn.
