Socks are laundry. My girls, in their laundry experience, have learned to hate matching and pairing socks. Sure they fold the towels, the pants, and shirts, but somehow at the bottom of the laundry baskets lie piles of little feet. No matter how I plead, threaten, and beg Face it, socks are the hardest working part of our
clothing. Maybe my kids avoid the socks because they just aren't glamorous enough? Maybe they don't understand what happens when you don't have socks to wear? I do know after a few days they wander around the house whining, "I have no socks." My husband and I start whining too, "Socks ARE laundry!" I've been thinking about socks. As we face, the busy ups and downs, the large conflicts and challenges of life, sometimes we over look the finer, meaningful, but less glamorous details of life. Like the socks, these small, seemingly insignificant moments fly by without a second thought. Barely given recognition, they pass in a whirl. But like the socks when they are missing you feel it. These moments are everywhere. Socks, like life's little moments, are important.
Socks are laundry. "Wild Tulips" ![]() Beth Bruno is the author of Wild Tulips,
which is a collection of entertaining tales about parenting. She has always been
"fascinated by people - their motives, emotions, what makes them tick." As a
school psychologist, her philosophy is not to solve problems for people, but rather
"to help people discover their inner resources and create ways to help
themselves." In this interview with Beth, she discusses how living life is akin to gardening;
what lessons her book can
teach homeschoolers; a little bit about Beth's daughter Nikki; her
approach to dealing with
school districts; and an essay on "special" education
that focuses on bringing out the strengths in our children. She is available for your
questions and we hope to have a lively discussion.
