gillespie.jpg (3699 bytes)buddysystem.jpg (4682 bytes)This week's Recipe of the Week is brought to us by the hugely popular author of the weight loss book The Goddess Diet.  Dr. Larrian Gillespie has developed a way for women to eat to stay fit, sharp and lose weight and keep it off!

Dr. Gillespie has been the first to recognize that women have different nutritional needs - we use foods differently and need to eat differently than men.

Her recipe Spicy Beef comes from her book The Goddess Diet.   This stir-fry dish can easily be made for dinner and enjoyed by the entire family - especially the men!

What you need:

  • 1 teaspoon white peppercorns
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1 1 /2 tablespoons coarsely chopped cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • 2 Thai or serrano chilis, mined
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of finely grated lime zest
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon canola oil
  • 8 ounces lean top round steak, cut into strips
  • 2 tablespoons reduced sodium soy sauce
  • 1/2  cup fresh basil and 1/2 cup mint leaves

What you do:

  1. Heat a small skillet dry on high heat, then toast the peppercorns until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  2. Transfer to a spice grinder and coarsely crush.  In a bowl add the garlic, cilantro, ginger, chilis, lime-zest, peppercorns, sea salt, and pound to a coarse paste.
  3. Heat the skillet on high, then add oil and reduce the heat to medium. Add the beef and spice "paste"that you have made, and stir-fry until cooked through, about 2 minutes.  Stir in the soy sauce and transfer to serving bowls.  Top with the basil and mint.

Bay Watch Turkey Burgers

Want to discover how those sand studs on "Bay Watch" keep such a great physique? It's in the meat. We all know how dry ground turkey can be, but placing a tablespoon of Boursin cheese (especially the peppered version) between the patty makes this meal glisten with taste.
