Tammy
Faye.Say the name and most folks will know
who you are talking about. Say Tammy Faye Bakker and they will shake their heads
knowingly.
Back in the 80s she, and her then husband Jim, were both
enmeshed in one of the nation's most highly covered and sensationalized scandal. A scandal
so large and damaging it is hard to think of life after such an ordeal.
But Tammy Faye has survived.
She has done more than survive. She has managed to carve out a life for herself
and two children, Tammy Sue and Jamie. She has also met and married a wonderful man, Roe
Messner, and so is now Tammy Faye Messner.
I had lunch with Tammy a
couple of weeks ago. Over chicken cashew and iced tea we got to talking about life and the
cards that life can deal you. Tammy felt strongly that when life hands you a bunch of
lemons you should make lemonade. As a Christian and strong woman, Tammy has looked to her
faith, family, and heart to find the strength that has brought her to this point in life.
The love of her husband Roe along with an enriching and satisfying life has led to the
inner peace that she now feels.
Tammy has been busy. She has just finished her movie The
Eyes of Tammy Faye and is now working on sharing her life experiences and thoughts to
inspire others.
Tammy in her own column, "Tammy Faye" reaches out
to motivate and comfort others who find themselves down a deep and dark alley. She knows,
really knows, how it feels to be alone, sad, and scared. As the author of a number of
books and a public speaker, Tammy dedicates a significant part of her life to help people
conquer life's many unexpected challenges. She hopes to inspire and show us that there is
always a light at the end of a tunnel, even the darkest tunnel.

We can
lose today by worrying about tomorrow. We can lose today doing nothing, waiting for
tomorrow and something better to come along in our life. And, what can start as one day
lost soon turns into months and then years....We get caught up in words like "if
only" and "what if". Find out more. |
